Read and ReflectI think all good teachers ask students to generated hypotheses... Whether it be in a science classroom where students are asked to asked to create and test a hypothesis, or in language arts classes where we ask students to predict what will happen next in a work of literature. In my classroom, I asked student frequently to make predictions about what they thought was going to happen in books or stories we were reading, based on what they had already read. I have not done this using any type of technology, however.


Apply and Reflect I like the Create A Graph site... I had trouble coming up with ideas for what data to input, but can think of several ways to use it in conjunction with our curriculum. I was thinking along the ideas of asking kids to make predictions that apply to the book, such as "Who is leaving treasures in the tree?", having kids give some ideas, then asking them which of the ideas they think is correct. Later visiting it again to confirm how many students were correct, and discuss why other characters could have been possibilities at the time we created the chart, and what we have learned since that time. graph.jpg
